Conference title: The EU Migration & Refugee Crisis – perspectives from Visegrad & Germany
Conference organized in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Jagiellonian University & the Bosch Foundation
Panel discussions:
● Managing the EU migration and refugee crisis: lessons learned & challenges ahead
● Perceptions of immigration in V4 & Germany: is solidarity among states and people possible inside the EU?
● Refugees, islamophobia and the raise of far-right parties in Europe – why should we be worried?
Questions discussed during the external session in Kraków:
● What is nature, and what are the sources, of the EU crisis concerning migration?
● What should be the legal, policy and operational responses to the European migration crisis by the EU & member states?
● What is, and what should be, the role of neighboring and transit states in controlling migration towards the EU? What constitutes the basis of the EU-Turkish deal and is it sustainable?
● What is the past experience with dealing with immigrants in Visegrad countries and Germany? What lessons were learned?
● What is the nature of the different perceptions of the migration crisis between Visegrad countries & Germany? Are these changing with time? In what way?
● How has islamophobia developed in Europe and how grounded are European societies’ fears of Islam?
● Is the exposure to refugees strengthening the far-right populist parties in Europe?
