Voting to choose your members of parliament, the president, or decide on important issues such as leaving or staying in the EU. In today’s world even local elections can have global implications, so it is of utmost importance to learn more about the process.
That’s why we have decided to introduce a special one-day workshop dedicated to elections.
It will be organized fully in English on Zoom. Each training will last 3 hours and will also include a short coffee break. The training will take place on Monday, September 25th, during working hours, based on CET.
During the first part, you will have a chance to learn more about election observation missions around the world from an expert working in the OSCE and in the EU. Ambassador Urszula Gacek has been the Head of many OSCE Election Observation Missions including the U.S., France, Albania, and most recently Uzbekistan. She will talk about the challenges that democracies face today, what it takes to become an election observer, and what her experience is like working on election affairs.
During the second part, you will hear from Givi Gigitashvili who works for Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab on capacity building against foreign meddling into elections. We have seen many times the threat of disinformation and foreign meddling in conducting a free and fair election, it is necessary to understand some key methods used by hostile actors and how to protect ourselves against them.
Since the Polish parliamentary elections are right around the corner, some cases discussed might relate to Poland, but the training is open to a wide audience.
