Permanent Representative to the United Nations (1981 - 1982 & 1998 - 1999)


Ambassador ad personam, graduate of the University of Warsaw Law School, post-graduate studies at the Academy of International Law in The Hague.

In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Polish Foreign Service held among other positions those of Ambassador to the Office of the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva and Ambassador to the UN in New York, as well as Secretary of State and First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs.Held the following positions while working for the United Nations: Under-Secretary-General for Conferences and Special Assignments (1982-1991) Under- Secretary- General for Public Information (1992-1993); Vice Chairman of the UN International Civil Service Commission (1999-2006).

Currently – from 2007 serves as a member of this Commission. Member of the EAD Council of Ambassadors.

Among his decorations are: Grand Commander’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta; Commander’s Cross of the French Legion of Honour; Grand Commander’s Cross of the Greek Order of the Phoenix.
