On November 5–7, the European Academy of Diplomacy had the honour of participating in the World Forum for Democracy 2025 in Strasbourg, organised by the Council of Europe.

This year’s theme - “Democracy at risk: how can we revive it?” - brought together an inspiring community of practitioners, policymakers, thinkers, and young leaders.

EAD was represented by AYD graduates with honours, who joined discussions on citizen participation, the future of civic education, the role of culture in democratic life, and the impact of emerging technologies.

During our visit, we also had the opportunity to attend a study visit to the European European Court of Human Rights and meet Judge Monika Zacny, where we learned more about the structure and work of the Court. The visit was especially unique, as on November 4 we celebrated the 75th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), marking a milestone in the protection of human rights across Europe.

At a moment when democratic institutions face declining trust and intensifying polarization, the conversations in Strasbourg highlighted the urgent need for renewed commitment, inclusive dialogue, and long-term investment in people. We are proud that our graduates were part of this European exchange of ideas.

Our sincere thanks go to the Council of Europe for hosting such an amazing event and to our AYD graduates for representing EAD on the international scale.
