Ambasador RP w Australii (1993-1997); z wykształcenia historyk sztuki, dyrektor muzeum Narodowego w Warszawie, była dyrektor Narodowej Galerii Sztuki „Zachęta”; kurator w Zamku Królewskim w Warszawie i wykładowca ASP w Warszawie. Autorka wystaw „Artystki polskie”, „Przedwiośnie. Polska 1880-1920” i „Inwazja Dźwięku”.
