Krzysztof Płomiński

Member of the EAD Council of Ambassadors.

Ambassador ad personam in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Political Scientist and lawyer. Specialist in problems of the Middle East,  Africa and Central Asia. Studied at the University of Lodz, Law Faculty, and the Institute of International Relations in Moscow. Graduate of many prestigious institutions, including the Academy of International Law in the Hague and British universities.

In foreign service since 1971. Worked in Polish diplomatic missions of economic profiles to Libya and Jordan, giving clerical advice to the First Secretary of the Embassy. Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Iraq (1990-1996), where among other functions he organized the evacuation of Polish citizens (1990/1991) and took part in arrangements leading to takeover by Poland of the US interests in Iraq (1991). As first ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Saudi Arabia (1999-2003), co-developed the fundamental tenets of Polish-Saudi cooperation, including in the economic sphere. Decorated with the highest Saudi order for his contributions to creating closer ties between the two countries. Held a variety of positions in the MFA, including Director (2004-2006) and two-time Deputy Director of the Departments of Africa and the Middle East, also Head of the Task Force on Iraq. Prepared highest level official visits to Poland and abroad. Participated in Polish delegations to sessions of the General Assembly of the United Nations and negotiation teams. Chief and member of a variety of crisis management teams in relation to security threats in the Middle East and in Africa and to abductions of Polish citizens. Currently Ambassador at personam to the Eastern Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 2007-2009 took an unpaid leave of absence from the MFA, working as Director of Middle East countries for PHZ Bartimpex. In this position helped to organize inauguration of the Tolerance Monument in Jerusalem. Member of specialist European and Middle Eastern organizations, academic lecturer, and author of publications on political and economic issues and the developments of the Middle East, including publications in the Pulaski International Commentary   Factors of Arab Investments in Poland.” (2010) and “Towards the Economic Dimension of the Polish Foreign Policy” (2011) Member of the EAD Council of Ambassadors. Honored with the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2010).
