2022 Alumni of the Year Award

On 18th of November 2022, our annual Academy of Young Diplomats Graduation Ceremony took place! Running at its 2021-2022 edition held within the framework of the prestigious 2022 Warsaw Security Forum, the European Academy of Diplomacy had distinguished a former graduate with the annual Alumni of the Year Award. The recipient, Ms. Sophia Renteria, was honored with the award from the European Academy of Diplomacy Founder and Chairwoman, Prof. Katarzyna Pisarska. 

The Alumni of the Year Award was designed to commemorate the outstanding accomplishments of graduates of the European Academy of Diplomacy, who hail from over 60 countries. The honorees are selected on the basis of their achievements in diplomacy, international relations expertise, social entrepreneurship, and civic activism. Throughout their work, the awardees are expected to embody the European Academy of Diplomacy’s values: Respect & Dialogue, Co-ownership, Empowerment, and Ethical Engagement.

Our alumni of the 14th annual Academy of Young Diplomats  program, Sophia Renteria has a background in international economics and languages, but along her career she focused on startups and innovation. First, in the public sector supporting the polish innovation ecosystem while working in the Polish Development Fund (PFR), later, she shifted to the private sector joining a healthtech startup upmedic as the COO responsible for all its business activities. She is also providing mentorship to startups from different industries. Sophia is a winner and a jury member of numerous Polish and international pitch and business idea competitions as well as an alumni of renowned startup accelerators.
