AYD 2024/25 Third Session: Poland’s Presidency in the EU Council and the Future of Europe

The third session of the Academy of Young Diplomats, held in Warsaw from February 21-23, focused on the theme “EU’s Future: Poland’s Presidency in the EU Council.” The event brought together aspiring diplomats, policymakers, and experts for an immersive experience exploring Poland’s role in shaping the future of the European Union. Participants visited the Europa Experience, gaining insights into European integration and governance. A high-level Global Talks session, moderated by Prof. Katarzyna Pisarska, featured Minister Konrad Szymański and Minister Jacek Czaputowicz, who discussed Poland’s strategic priorities, diplomatic challenges, and leadership within the EU Council.

The session also included diplomatic skills workshops and specialization classes led by experienced diplomats and academics, covering key topics such as diplomatic protocol, foreign policy, speechwriting, and international security. Participants engaged in discussions on the future of the EU as a democratic political system, ethics in international politics, and Poland’s role in NATO-Russia relations in the Baltics. By combining practical diplomatic training with policy discussions, the event provided attendees with essential skills and knowledge to actively contribute to Poland’s evolving role within the EU and the broader international arena.
