5th session of the #AYD starts tomorrow! This weekend our students are going to discuss current and emerging international threats with Mr. Guy Collyer from #IOIRC – International Office for Innovation in Reducing Crime. Our guest for the main lecture is Dr. Cezary Lusiński, Chief of Staff of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, who will speak about strategic approach to security policy. Later on, the AYD participants will take part in simulations “Model Diplomacy: Russia and NATO in the Baltics” and workshops on international negotiations and public speaking.

Last weekend, around 150 participants took part in first session of Academy of Young Diplomats. On Friday all participants took part in the orientation session, discussed main features of the program and had a chance to meet the European Academy of Diplomacy team.
Mr. Mikhail Khodorkovsky was a special guest of the ceremony of Graduation of the 12th edition and Inauguration of the 13th edition of the Academy of Young Diplomats held on 3 December. Mr. Khodorkovsky presented the best graduates with cum laude diplomas. The scholars of the 13th edition received scholarships from Member of the Board of PZU Foundation and President of the Casimir Pulaski Foundation. On December 3rd, the graduates of the 12th edition of the Academy of Young Diplomats received their diplomas from the Guest of Honour, Mr. Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who received the Casimir Pulaski Foundation Knight of Freedom Award. During the ceremony the best candidates of the 13th edition were presented scholarships funded by the PZU Foundation and the Casimir Pulaski Foundation.

VSPS Western Balkans Anti-corruption Forum first session has just started in Belgrade. Organized by the Visegrad School of Political Studies, a joint project of the EAD and the Council of Europe, in cooperation with the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence, the session gathers participants and experts from all over the Western Balkans and Visegrad, who discuss ways of combating corruption, good practises and finding possible solutions. Second session will be held in July in Warsaw, Poland. Project will conclude with open meetings in 6 Balkan capitals. Project is supported by the Council of Europe and the International Visegrad Fund.

Last October, the European Academy of Diplomacy had the privilege of hosting 16 high potential leaders from the Visegrad and Western Balkan countries for our pilot 3-day VSPS + Balkans initiative, sponsored by the International Visegrad Fund. The program focused on the applicability of best practices from the V4 to the Balkans in transformation processes, the implementation of anti-corruption measures, and on increasing transparency.
