This weekend the EAD will host the Workshop Session of the Academy of Young Diplomats (AYD). As always we will start on Friday evening with an exceptional guest speaker, Mr. Marek Metrycki, Country Leader for Poland & Managing Partner at Deloitte, who will deliver a keynote address as part of Leadership in Business Series. Saturday will start early morning with a workshop on policy paper writing. Later in the day, each of the young leaders will choose 2 workshops out of 9 available. The Spring School of Diplomatic Skills was successfully held on 20 – 24 March 2017. During the 5 – day program participants from Afghanistan, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine took part in workshops covering: public speaking, bilateral negotiations, leadership and team management, public diplomacy, digital diplomacy and diaspora policies, as well as written communication, effective meetings, diplomatic protocol and etiquette. The SDS was focused on developing the communication skills of the participants, providing them with a tool kit for sustaining both personal and organizational contact and relations, and proper external coverage of activities. On 14th of January 2017 the European Academy of Diplomacy and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung organized, in cooperation with Jagiellonian University, international conference „The EU Migration & Refugee Crisis” which gathered more than 200 young leaders from 40 countries.

On 3rd-5th June 2016 the last eighth session of the Academy of Young Diplomats took place. During Friday session titled “Geopolitics and Democracy in the Post-Soviet area” Jacek Bartosiak and Zbigniew Pisarski from the Casimir Pulaski Foundation (CPF) discussed a range of issues concerning geopolitical meaning of the post-Soviet area.

It established a year-long, fully funded exchange program for secondary school students to travel to the United States for a year. For the first time in history – a Family Reunion of the Forum Młodych Dyplomatów (Polish Forum of Young Diplomats), the European Academy of Diplomacy and the Fundacja im. Kazimierza Pułaskiego (Casimir Pułaski Foundation) – gathered in Gdańsk on the 26th-28th of June 2015. Last week, during the Spring edition of the European Diplomacy Workshop: Eastern Partnership, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of incredible young leaders form Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Germany, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and United States. The participants broadly discussed the current international situation, focusing on EaP – EU – Russia relations, as well as practiced negotiations, public speaking and leadership skills. During the fourth session of the 11th edition of Academy of Young Diplomats, which took place on 20-22 February, the EAD had the honor of hosting Mr. Paweł Potoroczyn, Director of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, consul for cultural issues in Polish General Consulate in Los Angeles (1995-2000), as a honorable guest. The main focus of his lecture was on cultural diplomacy, and as a reference to it, Mr. Potoroczyn introduced the origins and activities of Adam Mickiewicz Institute (AMI).
