Visit of the Conference of International Non-governmental Organisations of the Council of Europe

On June 1 – 2 the European Academy of Diplomacy will host study visit of the delegation of Conference of International Non-governmental Organisations of the Council of Europe. The purpose of the visit is to assess current situation of the NGO sector in Poland, the consultation mechanisms and NGOs’ participation in decision-making processes. The members of the delegation will meet with representatives of more than 25 NGOs, as well as ministries responsible for cooperation with the third sector, the Plenipotentiary for Civil Society and Equal Treatment and the Comissioner for Human Rights.

Conference of International Non-governmental Organisations will be represented by President Anna Rurka, Daria Miroslavskaya, Member of the Expert Council on NGO Law of the Conference of INGOs, and Antoine Madelin, Director for International Advocacy at International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH).

Conference of International Non-governmental Organisations of  the Council of Europe brings together 350 INGOs with participatory status. It works to strengthen citizens’ access to rights where the economy of exclusion and injustice are a form of violence against civil society and in particular the most vulnerable groups. The main aim of its activities is to honour commitment to ensuring that human rights, and consequently also social and cultural rights, are applied in member states’ legislation and in their daily practices. With a view to achieving this objective, Conference works together with the other bodies of the Council of Europe and governmental and intergovernmental institutions.

Official press conference is planned for 18:00 on June 1 at the premises of the European Academy of Diplomacy at 6 Olenadrow St. in Warsaw.
